The story
In a continuation of his partnership with Three Ships Whiskey, Kermit Erasmus opened up his wish to improve facilities for aspiring footballs at grassroots level.
The veteran attacker has been collaborating with Three Ships to bridge to speak a little bit about how he approaches football, from his character on the pitch to how he prepares for battle
Erasmus, who is currently a free agent, told Three Ships Whiskey in their #ExceptionalIsHere campaign video on how if he had an abundance of resources, he would transform the developmental structures from the most vulnerable levels of grassroots football in SA.
"If I could create or innovate something, to add to help grow the sport in the country, one of the first few things is grassroot levels. I think a lot of schools has to have infrastructure that aligns with a soccer player's career.
"Which [will] give the soccer player the confidence to be able to pursue both [football academics], so that if he doesn't make it at some point he kind of has the educational side of it," noted Erasmus.
Erasmus, who has had the chance to play in the Netherlands, Portugal, France, and Sweden for clubs such as Feyenoord, Stade Rennes, Lens, Vitoria Setubal, and AFC Eskilstuna, hopes more foreign clubs will come to South Africa to scout talent.
