The story

Kaizer Chiefs have secured the services of Angolan international, Inácio Miguel Ferreira dos Santos from Angolan giants, Petro de Luanda, making the defender Chiefs' fifth signing for the 2024/25 season.

The 28-year-old centre-back landed in Johannesburg on Tuesday afternoon to undergo his medical before signing a three-year deal with Amakhosi.

Miguel, the first Angolan international to sign for Chiefs, penned a lovely farewell message Petro de Luanda and its supporters, writing:

"When I arrived at Petro de Luanda, I knew I was taking on a great challenge. [I] gave it my all, every practice, every game. Together, we wrote a story that will forever be imprinted on my memory and heart," read the Angolan international's farewell statement, which continued:

"I defended this jersey with all my soul, and every moment I felt your unconditional support. Today I say goodbye to this club that became much more than a home – it became part of who I am.

"I carry with me the memories, the achievements, and the affection of each of you. Thank you, Petro de Luanda, for everything we achieved together," stated Miguel.

As mentioned by Chiefs' press release, announcing the signing of the Portuguese-born defender, Miguel played a crucial role in Petro de Luanda's squad, helping them compete in the CAF Champions League and secure Angola's domestic league title last season.

Capped five times by the Angolan national team, Miguel has played his football in Portugal, Romania and Latvia. In 25 appearances for Petro de Luanda, he helped keep eight clean sheets and score three goals.
