The story
Pirates legend Happy Jele recently took a nostalgic trip down memory lane as he showcased his all-time favourite pair of football boots on the latest episode of Betway's "My Favourite Things" series.
Jele, a true Buccaneers legend with over 400 appearances to his name, used the platform to reflect on key milestones that shaped his career.
Among the standout items he highlighted were some of the individual accolades he collected during his time at the club, but none seemed to carry as much sentimental value as his iconic red adidas adiPure boots.
These boots, Jele revealed, symbolised a pivotal turning point in his career. He wore them during the 2010/11 season when he lifted his first of two league titles with the Soweto giants.
The red adidas adiPure boots became a marker of success, representing the beginning of Jele's successful career, where he would go on to become one of the most respected defenders in the Premier Soccer League.
Jele's Red/White/Black adiPure II boots were released in 2009 as part of the adiPure range that was worn by the likes of Kaka, Xabi Alonso, Frank Lampard and Karim Benzema and is one of the hottest boot releases of the late 2000s.
"These were my favourite boots from adidas. These boots helped me score goals and made me into a different player and a person," reflected Jali.
"I started getting picked for Bafana Bafana wearing these boots. I scored goals and started to win things wearing these boots, so they are very special," added Magents.
