FRIDAY DEBATE: Who Will Be In Carling Knockout Final?

With the Carling Knockout semi-final matches coming up this weekend, the Friday debate asks which two clubs will book a spot in the final to be played at Moses Mabhida Stadium this month.

Richards Bay are set to host Stellenbosch in the first semi-final, before TS Galaxy visit AmaZulu in the second semi to determine who will lock horn in the final. While the people of KZN might be licking their lips at the thought of a derby in the final, Stellenbosch and Galaxy certainly have what it takes to upset the teams hosting this weekend.

Galaxy have shown resilience by getting through two penalty shootouts in this competition, while Stellenbosch have won both their matches away from home, making this one against Richards Bay their third one. Richards Bay, however, have done well to win both their home matches in the competition thus far, while AmaZulu are the joint top scorers of the Carling Knockout this season with four goals.

Soccer Laduma spoke to three individuals to find out who they think will be in the final of the competition.

Dikgang Mabalane - television analyst

Stellenbosch have a big chance of reaching the final in my opinion. I am saying this because I did their game recently. They beat Cape Town Spurs 3-0 and they are a good side overall. They've got good talent and I like the fact that it's younger players, not necessarily big name players or anything like that. They are quality. I like the way they play. They are very organised and feel they are doing a good thing in developing talent. The other semi-final is a tricky one, but I will go with my gut feeling. My gut feeling says AmaZulu will win it. So, I'd say Stellenbosch and AmaZulu in the final.

Khuliso Ramahashe - former Dondol Stars coach

In all honesty, TS Galaxy strikes me as a team that has a chance of reaching the final. I feel Galaxy has a pedigree of winning a trophy, even if it's one. The last time AmaZulu enjoyed a trophy was in the early 90s and I am sure they want to bring back the glory days. Stellenbosch believe in their philosophy. Richards Bay are in their second season in the topflight. Do they play a good brand of football? I think so. Honestly, I would give it to Galaxy to reach the final because they have won a trophy before. With the other two, I am not really sure because anything can happen in the game of football.
