CAF Confederation Cup Report: Songo v Bidvest Wits 27 October 2019

Bidvest Wits remain on course for a spot in the CAF Confederation Cup group stages after claiming a first-leg victory in Mozambique on Sunday.

Gavin Hunt's troops qualified for the play-off round after dispatching Young Buffaloes 3-1 on aggregate in the last round, while they had a bye in the first round.

The Clever Boys managed to get the job done on Sunday afternoon, with Deon Hotto and Sameehg Doutie getting the vital away goals.

UD Songo did give themselves some hope for the second leg thanks to Stelio Telinho Ernesto's solitary strike.

The second leg is scheduled to take place in South Africa next weekend, and Wits just need to avoid victory to secure a spot in the group stages.

South Africa's other Confederation Cup side, TS Galaxy, went down to a 2-0 defeat to Enyimba in Nigeria on Sunday.
