Marumo Gallants have progressed to the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup with a 3-0 win over Futuro Kings on Friday night.

Result: Marumo Gallants 3-0 Futuro Kings (4-2 on aggregate)

Date: 17 September 2021

Venue: Peter Mokaba Stadium

Gallants had a full complement of players to choose from this week after they only travelled with 12 players for the first leg while Washington Arubi joined up with the team soon after.

Gallants suffered a first-leg defeat in Equatorial Guinea last weekend, but they did manage to bag an away goal in their first-ever continental encounter that ended 2-1.

To add more drama to the tie, the second leg had to be delayed by four hours after Futuro Kings only arrived in South Africa on the day of the clash.

When the clash did get underway, Sebastien Migne's charges got the start they wanted after Celimpilo Ngema opened the scoring in the 27th minute to bring South African level in the overall tie.

Which team do you think will win the DStv Premiership title this season?

The hosts were able to carry the lead and the momentum into the second half, where they grabbed a second goal on the night as Ngema completed his brace on 64 minutes.

The tie was wrapped up with 11 minutes left on the clock as Thabo Mnyamane got his name on the score-sheet to make it 3-0 on the night and 4-2 on aggregate.

Gallants will now lock horns with AS Vita Club in the second preliminary round, which is scheduled for the 15-17 October with the second leg taking place a week later.
