Second half goals from Lehlohonolo Majoro and Thabo Rakhale earned Orlando Pirates a 2-2 away draw with CF Mounana in their CAF Champions League first leg tie.
The home side did most of the attacking in the early stages of the half, while Pirates goalkeeper, Brighton Mhlongo, was called into action on a couple of occasions in the opening minutes.
Mhlongo was called into action again moments later, the shot-stopper came rushing off his line to deny the Mounana attacker in an one-on-one situation.
The home side were rewarded for their early dominance, as they took the lead on the half hour mark.
Eric Tinkler's side did managed to create an opening in the first half, as Mpho Makola forced the Mounana goalkeeper into a save.
It proved to be a busy opening 45 minutes for Mhlongo, as he was called on to pull off another save a few minutes later.
Thamsanqa Gabuza had a goal disallowed for off-side just before the break.
The Gabonese side doubled their lead in the 60th minute from the penalty spot, after Ayanda Gcaba committed a foul in the area.
Tinkler made two changes as he brought on Lennox Bacela and Lehlohonolo Majoro for Thandani Ntshumayelo and Gabuza, and it proved to be the catalyst for a comeback.
Pirates managed to grab a vital away goal in the final 20 minutes thanks to a strike from substitute Majoro.
Tinkler brought on Thabo Rakhale in the final 10 minutes and the winger certainly made an impact, Rakhale showed some good skill before firing into the back of the net for a great individual goal, to ensure Pirates leave Gabon with two away goals.
The second leg will be played at Orlando Stadium on the first weekend of May.
