The Date For The CAF Group Stage Draws Has Been Set

Mamelodi Sundowns will see who stands in their way in the group stages of the CAF Champions League next month, with a date for the draw being set. Read: Wits Co Discover CAF Fate Masandawana made it past Uganda's KCCA in the final knockout round of qualification for the tournament after receiving a bye for the preliminary round as reigning champions, and will now be pitted against three sides for a spot in the knockout stages of the tournament proper. The Brazilians have reportedly been named in Pot 1 of the draw alongside Zamalek, Al Ahly and Etoile du Sahel, meaning that they will avoid a trip to Egypt in the group stages. Three other South African sides could also be involved in a draw on the same day, with CAF confirming that the Confederation Cup draw will also take place in Cairo during the same event. Bidvest Wits – who were knocked out of the CCL – as well as SuperSport United and Platinum Stars will be in the CCC draw if they can beat Smouha, Barrack Young Controllers and AS Tanda respectively. The draw is set to get underway at 14h00 South African time on Wednesday, 26 April 2017.
