Sundowns defeated Saint George 1-0 on Saturday afternoon to move second in Group C with eight points.
However, Pitso Mosimane's charges have a better head-to-head than Saint George, who sit in third spot on with five points.
The reigning champions advance to last eight with one game remaining due to their head-to-head record over Saint George.
Group C leaders, Esperance are also through to next round, although they only sit one point ahead of Sundowns heading into the final round of group matches.
Sundowns play AS Vita at home next weekend, while Esperance host Saint George.
