Pitso Mosimane Has Explained Why One Of His Defenders Did Not Perform At His Best Last Night

Pitso Mosimane has revealed why Bangaly Soumahoro did not perform at his best during Mamelodi Sundowns' CAF Champions League clash last night.

The Brazilians played to a 2-2 draw against Horoya AC in the CAF Champions League competition, unfortunately losing their 2-1 lead in the 83rd minute of the encounter.

Speaking to the media, Mosimane admitted that one of his defenders did not perform at his best, adding that Soumahoro was informed of Guinea-Bissau's interest in having the player in their national team setup.

Soumahoro is Ivorian, however, according to local media, the player's mother is of Guinean nationality, and therefore the centre back could be eligible to play for either country.

"It is just that he knew that somebody approached him to play for Guinea and I was a bit worried that if he knows before, it might affect his game and it did affect his game, he didn't play exactly the way he always plays, he is a better player, he was a bit nervous because of this because he wants to impress you and he didn't play normal. But he is a very good football player and in my opinion, if he wants to play for Guinea, I give the green light," Mosimane said after the match.
