Pitso Mosimane Has Admitted That Rotating His Squad Has Been Risky

Pitso Mosimane has admitted that constantly rotating his squad has been risky for him as he had to rest a few of his key players.

Mamelodi Sundowns are ahead with the final preparations as they look to begin their run in the CAF Champions League.

Sundowns along with the 2016/17 Absa Premiership champions, Bidvest Wits, will be representing South Africa in the prestigious continental competition.

The Brazilians are currently in Rwanda, where they are preparing to lock horns with Rayon Sports in the first round of the tournament.

"It's been difficult juggling our domestic and continental commitments," Head Coach Pitso Mosimane said on Sundowns' official website.

"I have taken some risks with how we manage our squad. I have been resting Themba Zwane, Sibusiso Vilakazi and Hlompho Kekana because they are Bafana Bafana players.

"Zwane and Kekana are fresh. We rested Tiyani Mabunda against SuperSport United. It's risky but we have to juggle the team to make sure that in the final last five games we have legs and fresh legs.

"Bafana players know how to play in the continent. Vilakazi, Zwane, Kekana and Mabunda are the big guns who have played on the continent and most of them were there when we won the Champions League. This is the time to bring them on now because we sacrificed them in the league to ensure that they are fresh. It's risky but we can afford them," Mosimane added.

Sundowns will lock horns with Rayon Sports on Wednesday, March 07, before returning to Mzansi for the second leg of the competition on March 18.
