Seven minutes later, Thembinkosi Lorch almost broke the deadlock for Pirates after seeing his strike crash against the crossbar from 12-yards out.   Horoya were forced to make a substitution ten minutes before the break after defender Lamine Fofana was replaced by Boubacar Samassekou, before they dealt another blow when Boniface Haba made way for Daouda Camara after picking up a knock.   Lorch finally broke the deadlock for Milutin Sredojevic's charges on the stroke of halftime with a clinical left-footed strike at the near post to give the hosts a 1-0 lead going to the break.
The Buccaneers made a quiet start to the second stanza, which prompted Sredojevic to make his first change on the hour-mark, bringing on the fresh legs of tricky winger Pule in place of Mahachi in a like-for-like substitution upfront..   Shonga eventually made it 2-0 for Bucs with 15 minutes remaining. The Zambian had the presence of mind to spot Kante was way off of his line, and he unleashed a first-time strike from 35-yards out that sailed into the empty net.   Shonga grabbed his brace and Pirates' third three minutes later from almost a similar move, but this time sent a looping strike over Kante following an error from the Horoya defence.   Pirates opted to close up shop at the back six minutes before time as they withdrew Lorch and brought on left footed defender Paseka Mako as they saw out the rest of the clash to their first win that sees them top Group B.   Here's how they lined up:

Pirates: Mabokgwane, Jele, Ndengane, Mbekile, Maela, Mulenga (Mntambo 72'), Nyatama, Mlambo, Lorch, Mahachi (Pule 61'), Shonga.   Subs: Mpontshane, Mntambo, Makola, Mako, Pule, Munetsi.
