CAF Champions League

Full-time: KCCA 1-1 Mamelodi Sundowns (2-3 on aggregate)

Date: 18 March 2017

Venue: Phillip Omondi Stadium

CAF Champions League holders, Mamelodi Sundown progressed to the group stages of the tournament, after claiming a 3-2 aggregate win over KCCA.

The Champions headed into the clash with a slight advantage after winning the first leg 2-1 last weekend.

The home side enjoyed more of the chances in the early stages with Josehph Ochaya and Allan Okello going close inside the opening 10 minutes.

Sundowns were then dealt a blow as Wayne Arendse picked up a knock and was replaced by Soumahoro Bangaly.

However, it was KCCA who broke the deadlock after 30 minutes as Geofrey Serunkuuma turned home Brian Majwega's cross.   The Brazilians had a couple chances of their own throughout the opening 45 minutes, with Themba Zwane and Hlompho Kekana forcing the KCCA goalkeeper into a fine saves.   Nonetheless, the score remained 1-0 to the home side, as the sides entered the halftime break.   Pitso Mosimane opted for a change at the start of the second half, as Anthony Laffor repalced Anele Ngcongca.   Percy Tau and Thapelo Morena combined well in the final third, as Sundowns pushed for an equaliser but the end product was not there.   Sundowns opted for another change after 71 minutes as Tiyani Mabunda made way for Mzikayise Mashaba.   However, the Brazilians eventually leveled matters in the 80th minute as Laffor rifled the ball home from close range.   Sundowns managed to see out the closing stages to clinch the draw which see them win the tie 3-2 on aggregate.   Here's how they lined up:

KCCA: Ocan, Okot, Kavuma, Awany, Ochaya, Mutyaba, Kirabira, Mucureezi, Okello, Majwega, Serukuuma

Sundowns: Sandilands, Ngcongca (Laffor 46'), Nascimento, Arendse, Langerman, Kekana, Mabunda (Mashaba 71'), Morena, Zwane, Zakri, Tau.
