Andries Sebola believes it has been far too long since Orlando Pirates last won the CAF Champions League, but hopes the Soweto giants can end the wait and "put that second star on the badge". Read: Usuthu Unveil Unique New Jersey 7 Signings The Buccaneers were crowned continental kings in 1995 with a team already immortalised in South African football folklore, including the likes of Edward Motale, Tebogo Moloi, Helman Mkhalele and Mark Fish, to name a few. And former Pirates striker Sebola feels the time is now right for the PSL juggernauts to again stamp their authority on Africa. Read: Amajita Held By Malawi In AFCON Qualifier "They need to put a second star (on the badge), they were exemplary when they won it in 1995, and then Sundowns followed, so now they (Pirates) need to put that second star on their badge," Sebola told the Siya crew. Sebola also feels the Buccaneers need to assemble a squad capable of challenging both in Africa and on the domestic stage next season. "It's going to be tough for them (Pirates) so the only thing they have to do now, the coaches, is to get the right combination (of players) to play in Africa and also domestically, but it's not going to be easy," he said. Sebola further believes a deep run for Pirates in CAF can go a long way to inspiring PSL teams, and Africa as a whole, to reinforce the belief and improve on a continental scale. "It (Pirates winning the CAF CL) would inspire, even other African countries - you think of TP Mazembe, they've been there and done it all, so for us as South Africans it can inspire some of the teams in our domestic league, so they can take the league very, very seriously."
