Speaking after the game, Van Wyk pointed out that Banyana was no walkover in the World Cup, proving everyone wrong about their capabilities in the competition.
"I think (many) people already counted us out when they saw South Africa in such a group, they always said (that it was) a group of death and (many) people, even some of the reporters have mentioned that they thought it would be a walkover for them against South Africa and they expected a high margin of goals against us," Van Wyk told SAFA.
"We've proved everyone wrong with the way we displayed our football and the way we have a high spirit before and after the game. We will continue fighting no matter what," she added.
