Banyana Banyana not deterred by draw

The women's senior national team Banyana Banyana have taken positives out of their draw with Slovakia in their opener in the Cyprus Cup. Banyana were held to a goalless draw against their European counterparts, however, the South African remain in high spirits. Speaking to the Siya crew, Banyana captain Janine van Wyk stated that the team took a lot of positives from the match to use in the next encounter. "It was a very tough match for both sides. Both teams didn't create as many chances and it was very closely contested," said van Wyk. It's always reassuring to know that defensively we are sound and then we can build from there. It was also good to see players make their debut like Kgaelebane Mohlakoana so that was definitely a positive. "We are looking forward to our next match. For us, it's about maintaining our defensive shape and hopefully this time we will get the goals," concluded the skipper. South Africa next play Hungry today with the match scheduled for 18h00.
