One of the greats of the game in Africa, Thomas N'Kono has hailed Bafana Bafana captain and Mamelodi Sundowns shot-stopper Ronwen Williams.
The goalkeeper had joined Masandawana from crosstown rivals SuperSport United at the start of last season. He silenced the doubters by starting immediately ahead of Denis Onyango who was at the time hailed as Africa's best goalkeeper based on the continent.

Recently, the 31-year-old Williams helped the Brazilians lift the inaugural African Football League ahead of stellar clubs like Wydad Casablanca and current Caf Champions League winners Al Ahly SC.
"I watched him in the last game I was here to watch the (AFL) final, he is one of the best goalkeepers (in Africa). But you know the football is very different," N'kono told Velile Mnyandu.
A move to Europe, even before joining the Brazilians, was mooted for Williams in the past, and the Cameroonian stalwart discusses whether the South African still has the ability to make the switch abroad. N'Kono also discusses what African keepers need to do to make the grade abroad.
"I don't know. Maybe if he has adapted the characteristics of the goalkeepers that's changing a lot and the structure of the goalkeepers and characters now are changing. I don't know if he can play in Europe or have the chance because he has the potential," N'kono said.
The now 67-year-old N'kono rose to fame at the 1990 FIFA World Cup where the Indomitable Lions became the first African country to reach the quarter-finals of the global event.
"One of the problems is the goalkeepers on the continent and that's why we have a workshop like this today. I think the objective for CAF and all the bodies that are here are doing their all to have a good formation to form good goalkeepers to play throughout the world," N'kono concluded.
