Thabo Senong Speaks After Amajita Loss

Thabo Senong Speaks After Amajita Loss

Amajita head coach, Thabo Senong says that the sooner his side forgets about last night's defeat, the better it will be to plan for the rest of the group stage fixtures.

The South African national U20 team suffered a 5-2 loss to Argentina in the opening fixture of the U20 FIFA World Cup campaign, this after going down to 10-men in the 66th minute of the encounter.

However, speaking to the media after the game, Head Coach Senong says that despite the result, he is still hopeful that his side will remain positive in the group stages, should they quickly forget about last night's result and prepare for their upcoming games against Korea and Portugal.

"It was just a critical phase, everything happened within one moment," Senong told the media.

"We tried to adjust the tactics and try to get the equalizer and stay in the game but we were open at the back."

"The sooner we forget about this match, the better, so that we remain focused positively for the other two games."

"We have to remain positive because we have been a team that have won many matches before and lost a few games and it is all about teaching the boys to come back from a bad result. Football has a lot of surprises and I still believe in our team and players and I still believe in our planning in the group stages, as it is a very tough group."

"We have to plan against Korea and Portugal and try to steal results and points out of this, we need to get three points and a draw, or two wins if possible," he added.

The group is still open so we have to remain hopeful. I have to believe in the boys and believe in our plan to make it better in the last two games," he said.
