Reports coming from Egypt indicated that the 29-year-old has made his way to Cairo, where he will immediately begin training with his Al Ahly teammates ahead of their CAF Champions League clash with CR Belouizdad.
It is understood that a late fitness test will be conducted on Tau to determine whether or not he will be available for the clash which takes place on Friday, 16 February.
Tau missed Bafana Bafana's third-place play-off game against DR Congo with a suspected injury.
His teammates meanwhile will return to South Africa, where a full-capacity crowd is expected to show up.
The Premier Soccer League postponed its scheduled matches which were set to take place on 13 and 14 February, with the dates for those matches yet to be announced.
Tau featured in all but one of Bafana Bafana's matches at AFCON, where he scored one goal (from the penalty spot).
