Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has named a preliminary squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Uganda and South Sudan, including new Kaizer Chiefs signing Rushwin Dortley.
South Africa will take on Uganda on September 6 before facing South Sudan four days later. Dortley joined Chiefs from Cape Town Spurs and features in the squad alongside teammates Bruce Bvuma and Given Msimango.

Dortley is yet to make his official debut for the Soweto giants, but his displays in the Cosafa Cup not so long ago must have been enough to convince Broos to include him in the preliminary squad.
Orlando Pirates midfielder Thalente Mbatha has also been included in the preliminary squad, having been in good form since joining the Buccaneers from SuperSport United back in January. This will be a big boost in terms of confidence for Mbatha, who has become one of Pirates' most consistent players in recent months.

After finishing third at the AFCON in Ivory Coast earlier this season, Bafana will be looking to ensure they qualify for the competition and show that their performances were no fluke. Broos has been building a solid squad with good results since taking over and will be looking to ensure they secure maximum points in these two matches to put themselves in a good position.
