
Keagan Dolly's AFCON With Bafana Is Over Before It Begun

Keagan Dolly's injury is not serious enough to be a worry for next season, but Stuart Baxter has explained why they were wary of taking him to the African Cup of Nations. Read: EPL Interest For Bafana Star Confirmed, Interesting Twist Speaking as the Bafana Bafana international was undergoing scans on his groin after feeling a problem while with the COSAFA Cup squad, Baxter told the media that they would assess the situation after the tests – however it has since been confirmed that he faces around three weeks out and will not be part of his AFCON squad. Speaking on Monday before the Bafana doctor confirmed his absence from the tournament, Baxter spoke of his concerns regarding the attacker, given the injuries that he's had this season. Baxter said, "It's serious enough for us to be concerned. It's a groin that he tweaked it a little before he came, but they managed it, and he trained and he did okay and then he came down and felt it in the first training session. What we don't want is to land in Egypt and suddenly it's getting a lot worse and we're missing a player." It remains to be seen at this point whether Baxter will name another player in as a replacement for Dolly ahead of the AFCON, or whether it just gives him a smaller list of players to choose from as he turns his preliminary squad into his final squad.
