International Practice Game
Result: Bafana Bafana 2-1 Malawi
Venue: Mogwase Stadium
Date: 22 May 2015
Bafana Bafana beat Malawi 2-1 in a practice game at the Mogwase Stadium on Friday afternoon, ahead of their COSAFA Cup quarter-final on Sunday.
Bafana's goals were scored by Tlou Segolela and Phumelele Bhengu.
This was Bafana Bafana's final warm-up game ahead of Sunday's COSAFA Cup quarter-final against Botswana.
Bafana played two friendlies in Maseru against Lesotho last week, drawing 0-0 and 1-1 in the two fixtures.
Having only just been drafted in the team, Segolela made an immediate impression, putting Bafana 1-0 up in the fifteenth minute, finishing off after a set-piece shot from Marc Van Heerden wasn't held by Charles Swini.
Ten minutes later and it was 2-0, as Ace Bhengu, who just signed for SuperSport United, doubled Bafana's lead with a powerful effort, after a defensive mix up at the back by the Flames.
Shakes Mashaba will have been pleased with his team's first half effort, as they went into the break two goals to the good.
The Flames pulled a goal back just before the hour mark, substitute Gerald Phiri scoring to make it 2-1, but that was the only score of the second half, as Bafana ran out winners in their final warm-up game before Sunday's quarter-final. Malawi take on Madagascar in the quarter-finals on Monday.
Here is how they lined-up:
