Hlompho Kekana Excused From Bafana Bafana Camp

Mamelodi Sundowns' Hlompho Kekana has been excused from the South African national team camp due to a tragedy, which took place in his family.

According to a source within the national team setup, Kekana had to report home due to a family emergency, after receiving a call that his mother-in-law was involved in a tragic accident and passed away.

Due to the current circumstances, it is unlikely that the player will be available for selection for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying encounter against Senegal on Friday.

Indications are that Head Coach Stuart Baxter and his technical team will assess Kekana's situation, although as things stand, it seems that Bafana will need to call-up a replacement for the 32-year-old.

The Englishman is now short of four of his key men, with Itumeleng Khune's injury still being monitored, Kekana's absence and both Bongani Zungu and Andile Jali facing a one-match ban.

Now, it remains to be seen who Head Coach Baxter will call-up to replace Kekana in the national team setup.
