Bafana Bafana head coach, Shakes Mashaba, was named the Coach of the Year after pulling the double with two national teams by first qualifying Amajita for the 2015 CAF African Youth Championships and then ensuring the national senior football team secured a berth in next year's CAF African Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.

Banyana Banyana veteran striker, Portia Modise, walked away with the coveted Sports Star of the Year award.

Modise reached her 100-goal milestone during the CAF African Women championships in Namibia where the Senior Women's National Team narrowly missed out on a place at next year's World Cup scheduled for Canada.

Mashaba on the other hand was immediately flown to the awards ceremony from the City of Mbombela (Nelspruit) where he had just led Bafana to a 2-0 victory of Ivory Coast in the Nelson Mandela Challenge.

"It seems everything he touches turns to gold because he did the same thing with Bafana Bafana as he did with the U20 squad, our football is clearly heading in the right direction and we want to thank this diligent South African. We are glad we made the right choice when we appointed him to lead those two teams," said SAFA President, Dr Danny Jordaan about Mashaba.
