Could A Kaizer Chiefs Coach Be Roped Into Bafana?

Could A Kaizer Chiefs Coach Be Roped Into Bafana?

He does have previous experience with Bafana...

Bafana Bafana head coach, Molefi Ntseki, is thought to have earmarked a Kaizer Chiefs coach as a potential international recruit…

Check out Baxter's last stint with Bafana in the gallery above!

Lee Baxter has spent several years in South Africa now, working firstly with SuperSport United and then returning to take on the role of goalkeeper coach at Naturena, where he was recently handed a new long-term deal as reward for his efforts.

As reported in this week's issue of Soccer Laduma, there has been contact between Baxter and Ntseki about a possible role within Bafana, but it remains to be seen if that is something that is still on the cards given the current uncertainty around the Coronavirus pandemic.

The former AIK, Malmo FF and Sheffield United goalkeeper has already completed his UEFA A, B and C badges, and has obtained a National A Licence for goalkeeping.

He also has a personal trainer licence, a nutritionist licence and became a certified strength coach prior to his arrival in South Africa. Having coached in Sweden, Turkey and Denmark in the past, he also holds plenty of international experience.

At this point in time there has been no indication of when Bafana will actually be in action again, with international football being put on hold for the foreseeable future, but could Baxter be the man to come in to help Ntseki take the nation forward?

The 43-year-old has worked with the likes of Ronwen Williams, Itumeleng Khune, Bruce Bvuma and Reyaad Pieterse at club level – all of whom have been called up to Bafana in the last couple of years – and his work in the Libya camp in 2018 doesn't seem to have gone unnoticed.

Would you like Baxter part of the coaching setup at Bafana?
