The South African Football Association were eagerly looking forward to announcing their new kit sponsors French brand, Le Coq Sportif, in the coming weeks, but fans will have to wait a little while longer.
CEO Gay Mokoena has indicated to the Siya crew that a launch date, which was anticipated to be closer to the official start date of their five-year partnership with Le Coq Sportif on June 1 could be delayed because of the lockdown.
With Mzansi on a standstill due to the nationwide shutdown ordered by President Cyril Ramaphosa until April 16, Mokoena said "everything is suspended for now".
Roger Noades, director of Le Coq Sportif in South Africa, confirmed to the Siya crew last week that they were coming on board: "We're really excited about the deal, we've signed a five-year deal with SAFA starting officially from June 1, however with the delays due to the virus we're not sure when the players will get to wear it for the first time."
Bafana would have still used their Nike kit this month in their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sao Tome, but the back-to-back matches were also called off because of the spread of the Coronavirus outbreak.
Mokoena said: "Remember we are on lockdown at the moment and everything is basically suspended for now – we will communicate when we are active again. It (the launch) was set for later, not now, but obviously with the lockdown the timelines are shifting."
