Not many people are lucky enough to say that they have represented South Africa on the national stage, but this teenager will add it to his list of achievements this week…
18-year-old Thabo "YvngSavage" Moloi was confirmed as one of the members of the eBafana Bafana team that will play in the upcoming FIFA eNations Stay n Play Cup, with the teenager teaming up with Mamelodi Sundowns' Sibusiso Vilakazi as well as Cassper Nyovest and Kagiso Rabada.
The tournament gets underway tomorrow as some of the world's best footballers join forces with their gaming counterparts to compete online - the winners of each section will win a prize money donation to be awarded to their national charity organisation.
The South African Football Association has named the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund as the chosen charity, and Moloi is hoping to play his part in helping eBafana progress past the United Arab Emirates in their first game tomorrow night.
Speaking to redbull.com, 'YvngSavage' said, "I was so surprised when I got the invitation! I've been working really hard and putting in a lot of practice to up my game over the past few months, so I'm very grateful to see that it is bearing fruit. I'm excited to get the chance to represent myself, my team and my nation in such a cool and unique tournament. I will do my best to make everyone, especially my mom who has been my biggest supporter and the most incredible woman I know, proud.
"South Africa has some really great FIFA players, from a competitive gamer perspective and from a professional sports perspective who are able to compete against the best in the world. If me and my Bafana Bafana team mate play some good FIFA and we secure win after win, I believe we can make it very far in the tournament."
