The No. 7 jersey is iconic in the football world, and when one thinks of the famous number, you cannot look past Manchester United and England legend David Beckham. The 43-year-old played in three tournaments but was not able to lift the trophy at any point. The midfielder, who was capped 115 times for his country, played 13 matches in the World Cup, and scored on three occasions.

A player who did win the competition and, in fact, captained his nation to that triumph was former France international Didier Deschamps. The 49-year-old, who is now his country's national team coach, played in only one tournament, but led his side all the way to glory back in 1998. The Frenchman made 82 appearances for Les Bleus overall, and played in only six World Cup matches.

Spain striker David Villa wore No. 7 for his country during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. The 36-year-old, who racked up 98 international caps in his career, played a crucial part in La Furia Roja's title-winning campaign in 2010, and claimed the Silver Boot too. Villa has played 12 matches in the World Cup, scoring nine goals along the way, which is an incredible record.
