Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi played a starring role for FC Barcelona, as they crushed Las Palmas 5-0 at the Camp Nou on Saturday evening.
The home side broke the deadlock after 14 minutes as Andre Gomes delivered a fine ball into Suarez, who rifled home from close range.
Barcelona should have doubled their lead in the 21st minute when Messi picked out Rafinha in the box, however the Brazilian fired wide from close range.
The visitors were dealt a blow after 34 minutes as Aythami picked up knock and was forced off. He was replaced by David Garcia.
Varas came to Las Palmas' rescue just before the halftime break, as he produced a fine save to deny Messi in a one on one situation.
Barcelona doubled their lead in the 52nd minute when Messi converted from close range, after Varas could only palm Rafinha's cross into the Argentine's path.
Suarez then grabbed his second and Barcelona's third minutes later with a curling finish into the bottom corner.
Arda Turan got in on the act in the 59th minute as Turkish midfielder slotted home from close range, after Varas could only parry Suarez's effort.
Barcelona made it 5-0 in the 80th minute when Aleix Vidal finished into the bottom corner, after being played in by Paco Alcacer.
