The 36-year-old was offered a return to professional football by Coritiba, who are participating in the Copa Libertadores – the South American Champions League.
The Brazilian Serie A side allegedly offered the two-time FIFA World Player of the Year a €88 000 salary (R1.3 million), and were also prepared to pay for his house, including private security.
However, Ronaldinho decided against the offer and instead became his former club's official ambassador.
"Coritiba informs that it will no longer pursue Ronaldinho," Coritiba said in a statement, as reported by Yahoo Sports.
"His new commitments with Barcelona will have an impact on his agenda in the short, medium and long term."
The Catalan club announced Ronaldinho as an official ambassador last week, saying he will represent the club at events around the world and will also be a member of the Blaugrana's new legends team.
"I am excited about coming home. I have no words to express the gratitude I feel towards the Club, the Directors and everyone for the invitation," Ronaldinho said, during his unveiling.
"I have always felt like an ambassador for Barça, as people associated my name with FC Barcelona.
"There are few people in the world who can say that they are ambassadors for Barça around the world."
