Former PSL coach Mlungisi Ngubane has made a bold statement regarding the credentials of Maritzburg United coach, Ernst Middendorp.
The German technician has been coaching in South Africa for more than 15 years and has made huge impact in developing some of the top players in the league.
This season the Team of Choice started the season very slowly as they lost their opening two matches against Lamontville Golden Arrows and Sekhukhune United.
Despite managing a win against Baroka FC last weekend, Ngubane has questioned the decision to retain the German tactician at the club.
"To be honest with you, Ernst Middendorp has expired. He is done as a coach in the PSL, it is the for the love of the game, there's nothing new that he brings to the game," Ngubane said, addressing media in Durban.
"I was hoping Maritzburg will give Delron Buckley or any local coach an opportunity to lead the team, because Middendorp is no longer that coach you can trust to bring results."
Ngubane says despite having good pre-season which saw them being crowned KZN kings, no other trophy will come while they still have Middendorp.
"I'm worried about him and his strategies, I think they've expired. He can win those few games but I don't think he will take Maritzburg to another level. He may have won the KZN Premier's Cup but that is just a pre-season tournament."
