AmaZulu FC coach Benni McCarthy has changed his tune about this season after their nervy start to the new campaign.
Usuthu were knocked out of the MTN8 by Cape Town City, lost their opening DStv Premiership game to defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns, while registering a draw against Swallows.
McCarthy says as much as the president may have his own wishes but football doesn't work like that. The team has to win games to achieve that and they won't put themselves under pressure.
"The president has his wishes and desires but that's just his wishes, sometimes you can fulfill them, sometime you can't. It is an early stage of the season," McCarthy told the media.
"So we work towards that everyday and we don't want to put unnecessary pressure on ourselves, for what? People's desires and wishes? Football is like that my friend."
Usuthu will face SuperSport United, Golden Arrows and Baroka next month while also preparing for the club's maiden CAF Champions League campaign.
"If I had a magic stick, I would say let's take the league but unfortunately it doesn't work like that. Monday to Friday you have to prepare, face Sundowns, be on your A-game and then play Swallows and SuperSport - you have to turn up and you can't wave the magic stick, that how it is. "
"The end of the season we will see if we match the desires of the owners," he added.
