Manchester United have reportedly had one of their potential transfers hijacked by Jose Mourinho, who is believed to have given the player a phone call to convince him to make a switch to Tottenham Hotspur instead.
The Red Devils were said to be closing in on a deal for Real Madrid left-back Sergio Reguilon, who spent last season on loan at Sevilla.
The 23-year-old was understood to be interested in joining United, but the latest reports suggest that the Spain international could instead be on his way to Spurs.
According to football journalist Fabrizio Romano, an agreement over the sale of Reguilon between Los Blancos and the Lilywhites has been reached, with his contract set to include a buy-back clause.

Tottenham have conceded to Real Madrid BOTH clauses they’ve asked for Reguilon: buy back and pre-emption.#MUFC have always refused any clause to bring back the player - it was the main issue. ?????? #THFC

Reports suggested that the left-back received a phone call from Mourinho himself recently, and was persuaded that joining Spurs would be the right move for him.
United were believed to be against the idea of including a buy-back clause in their deal with Reguilon, which is said to be the main reason his expected move to the Red Devils fell through.
