Former FC Barcelona manager Johan Cruyff believes footballers who have played in a certain position make the best football coaches. Find out which one it is here.
Did Pique Troll Real's Copa Woes?
The Dutch legend is of the opinion central midfielders make the best coaches, and that Pep Guardiola is living proof of this theory.
"I think that the best coaches in the world are always central midfielders, because during their sporting careers they are obliged to think and organise the play of the whole team, not just themselves, but as a collective," Cruyff told France Football.
"For their position, they had to see, dissect, and analyse each play. Rijkaard, for example, was a player that took the ball and organised the play. And the same occurred with Pep Guardiola."
Guardiola has been nominated alongside Luis Enrique and Jorge Sampaoli for this year's World Coach of the Year award.
