Cape Town City head coach, Benni McCarthy is frustrated at his side's goal drought, saying that if he was able to play at this point, he will do better than some of the players in his team.
The Citizens claimed another 1-0 win over Young Buffaloes at the Athlone Stadium last night, which saw them book a spot in the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup competition.

However, the team's lack of goals this season has cost them crucial points in the Absa Premiership title race, with Head Coach McCarthy's side being unable to score more than one goal in every encounter following their 4-2 loss against Maritzburg United last year, December 05.
"Today (Tuesday), I gave them a nice bollocking there because I think when you get opportunities like this, this is the type of games that you want; now you've got a chance to show yourself, get goals and take the chances. But, it looks like it is another smash and grab for us, because it is forever 1-0, 1-0, 1-0 and it gets a bit frustrating when you're standing on the sideline and you see your team creating numerous chances against every opposition that we play, but we just can't seem to score goals," McCarthy told the media.

"Honestly, I don't know what to do anymore. If I must go for liposuction maybe and get myself to play again maybe that will do the trick because some of the players will be a bit embarrassed because a 40-year-old is taking their place and actually doing unbelievably well because I back myself, I could do better than what a few of them are doing and not that I am talking down on players but it is just happening far too often, I don't know what to say or to do anymore. Enough of attacking football, the freedom and the trainings, every single day it is half an hour or almost the whole training consists of scoring goals and players getting comfortable when they get into wide areas, cut-backs, strikers scoring goals so they can never complain that they don't do enough of it, but then come game-time and yeah…" he added.
