Up front, the Bundesliga's all-time top foreign-born goalscorer Robert Lewandowski was paired with the league and Der Klassiker's all-time top scorer Gerd Muller.

Ottmar Hitzfeld, who won several trophies with both Bayern and Dortmund, was selected as the coach to lead the star-studded team, while Jan Koller, Sebastian Kehl, Mehmet Scholl and Carsten Jancker were named on the substitutes bench.
