After scraping through the group stages, Lionel Messi's Argentina will tackle France in the 2018 World Cup round of 16 this afternoon.
The match is scheduled to get underway at 16h00.
Les Bleus enter the knockout phase a little bit more assured than Argentina after topping Group C with seven points.
Didier Deschamps' charges beat Australia 2-1 in their opening match and booked their spot in the last 16 round by overcoming Peru 1-0 in their penultimate group match, before playing to a goalless draw with Denmark in midweek.
On the other hand, Argentina were made to work for their spot in the knockout stages after dispiriting performances that saw them fail to win their first two games in Group D.
Jorge Sampaoli's troops were held to a 1-1 draw by Iceland in their opening match and they seemed to be dead and buried when they lost their second game 3-0 to Croatia.
However, they resuscitated their campaign by snatching a late 2-1 win against Nigeria in their last group match and finished as runner-up with four points in Group D.
In head-to-statistics, these two nations have met on four occasions, with Argentina winning all four matches.
