Yaya Toure Is Ready To Lead From The Front

Yaya Toure Is Ready To Lead From The Front

Yaya Toure

Ivory Coast midfielder, Yaya Toure, revealed that he is enjoying the responsibility of leading his nation at this year's Africa Cup of Nations.

Toure was given the captain's armband after Chelsea legend, Didier Drogba, announced his retirement last year.

'Elephants Without Drogba Is Like Barca Without Messi'

Yaya told reporters that handling the responsibility is nothing new to him and believes that being a father has helped prepare him for the captaincy.

"Responsibility is something I've been dealing with every day for years, as a father and now as captain of the Ivory Coast and I am very proud," Toure said at a press conference ahead of their clash tonight.

Toure insists that this Ivorian side is a new team, compared to a few years back, and believes it's his turn to pass on his past experiences to the new players.

"Two or three years ago we had a strong team with a strong character, now it's a new generation and my objective is to help and give this young team more experience," he added.

"Every day that passes is good because I used to listen to the old heads and learn things from them. Now it's my turn to pass on my experience."

Yaya Toure will lead his nation out tonight against Guinea at the Nuevo Estadio de Malabo in their first Group D fixture.
