Afcon Quarterfinal Match Report: Cote d'Ivoire 3-1 Algeria 01 February 2015

Africa Cup of Nations - Quarterfinals   Result: Cote d'Ivoire 3-1 Algeria   Date: 01 February 2015   Venue: Estadio de Malabo   Cote d'Ivoire secured a place in the Afcon semi-finals with a 3-1 win over Algeria at Estadio de Malabo.   View The AFCON Results   The opening exchanges proved to be a dull affair, although the Algerians were dominant in posession.   And the Desert Foxes were presented with a chance to open the scoring in the 20th minute, but Riyad Mahrez managed to blast an effort over the crossbar from six-yards out.   The Ivorians nearly went ahead four minutes later but Serge Aurier's towering header crashed against the upright.   However, the Elephants were not to be denied in the 26th minute, as an un-marked Wilfried Bony headed home at the far post.   Algeria drew themsleves level five minutes after the halftime break, as El Arbi Hillel Soudani took advantage of some poor defending from the Ivorians to slot into bottom corner.   Sylvain Gbohouo came to the Elephants rescue in the 64th minute, the Ivorian goalkeeper pulled off a fine save to deny Soudani from point-blank range.   Cote d'Ivoire restored their lead in the 68th minute courtesy of a fine glancing header from Bony, his second of the game.   Gervinho sealed the win in stoppage time, the winger collected a pass from Aurier, before placing the ball into the far corner.   The Ivorians managed to hold on and claim the win, which will see them face DR Congo in the semi-finals.   Here's how they line up:   Algeria: M'Bolhi - Mandi, Bougherra, Medjani, Ghoulam - Feghouli, Taïder, Bentaleb, Mahrez, Brahimi, Soudani   Cote d'Ivoire:  Gbohouo, Aurier, Kanon, K.
