Afcon 3rd/4th Play-Off Report: Congo DR (4) 0-0 (2) Equatorial Guinea 07 February 2015
Africa Cup of Nations - Third/Fourth Play-Off   Result: Congo DR (4)0-0(2) Equatorial Guinea   Date: 07 February 2015   Venue:  Estadio de Malabo   Congo DR claimed the bronze medal at the Africa Cup of Nations after defeating Equatorial Guinea 4-2 in a penalty-shootout.   Check Out The Soccer Laduma TV Guide   The home side went in search of the opener and were nearly rewarded inside the opening 10 minutes, with both Javier Bilboa and Emili Nsue having their close range efforts saved by Robert Kidiaba.   Hervé Kage went close for Congo after the half hour mark, the midfielder got on the end of Yannick Bolasie's knockdown but his goal-bound effort was blocked.   The remaining 15 minutes of the first half proved to be a scrappy affair with both sides being reduced to long range efforts.   Congo coach, Florent Ibenge, decided to bring on top-scorer Dieumerci Mbokani at the start of the second half in the hope of breaking the deadlock.   Bolasie came close breaking the deadlock for Congo in the 59th minute but his strike from the edge of the area was saved by Ovono.   Bolasie went close again in the 66th minute, the Crystal Palace man cut in from the left before curling one towards goal, only Ovono to produce a fine save.   Neither side could break the deadlock in the closing stages of the half and finally the result was decided by a penalty shoot-out.   And it was Ibenge's men who held their nerve, scoring all four of their penalties, with Guinea missing two, to clinch third place at the tournament.   Here's how they line up:   Congo DR: Kidiaba, Djos, Kasusula, Makiadi, Kage, Bolasie, Zakuani, Mongongu, Mabwati, Bokila, Mbemba   Equatorial Guinea: Ovono Evuy, Gomez, Edjogo, Iyanga, Nsue, Balboa, Senobua, Esono, Sipo   Check out the latest shows on SLTV, click here!
