Afcon 2017 Qualifier Report: Tanzania 0-0 Nigeria 5 September 2015

Afcon 2017 Qualifier Report: Tanzania 0-0 Nigeria 5 September 2015
Afcon 2017 Qualifier   Result: Tanzania 0-0 Nigeria   Date: 5 September 2015   Venue: Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium   Tanzania and Nigeria both lacked a cutting edge in their Afcon 2017 qualifier on Saturday, drawing 0-0.   The Super Eagles had an early chance when Ahmed Musa's cross picked out Emmanuel Emenike but the striker's headed effort from close range went over the bar.   In the 20th minute the hosts came close to taking the lead as Mbwana Samatta tried his luck with a terrific direct free kick that Ikeme did well to keep out.   Nigeria created a good chance in the 37th minute as Eminike brought the ball down deep into the Tanzania box, but his shot was straight at a defender.   Tanzania missed a perfect opportunity to claim all three points in the 67th minute when Samatta's cross found Mrisho Ngassa, but he somehow managed to send his header over from close range.   In the last 10 minutes Nigeria were almost gifted the winning goal by the Tanzania keeper's blunder in the area, however his defenders bailed him out with a last-ditch clearance off the goalline.
