Despite a 1-1 draw in their final 2015 African Cup of Nations Group B match at the Estadio de Bata on Monday night, both DR Congo and Tunisia qualified for the knockout stages of the competition.

The draw sees Tunisia at the top of the group with five points followed by Dr Congo in second on three points and better goal difference than Cape Verde who also finished on three points after a 0-0 draw against Zambia also on Monday.

Tunisia created the first chance of the game in the tenth minute when Ferjani Sassi worked himself into space as he rounded the keeper, but saw his 16-yard shot cleared off the goalline.

In the 20th minute the keeper Robert Kidiaba Came to DR Congo's rescue as he produced a superb fingertip save to deny Yassine Chikhaoui from just inside the box.

Dr Congo's first decent chance of the match came eight minutes later when a 24-yard free-kick from Jean Kasusula was brilliantly saved by the keeper.

Tunisia took the lead on the half hour mark when Ahmed Akaichi headed home a cross from Yassine Chikhaoui, 1-0.

Dr Congo tried to fight back, but could not find an equaliser before the break.

Dr Congo came out firing in the second half and had a golden chance to level matters ten minutes after the restart when Dieumerci Mbokani broke behind the defence, but was denied by the keeper in a one-on-one.

In the 61st minute, though, DR Congo did find an equaliser through a Jeremie Bokila strike after he was put through on goal by Dieumerci Mbokani, 1-1.

In the 75th minute Hamza Younes nearly restored Tunisia's lead when he got onto the end of a low right wing cross, but he touched his effort just wide.

DR Congo also came close to finding a winner in 83rd minute when a long range drive from Jean Kasusula skimmed the wrong side of the post.

Neither team could find a winner in the remaining minutes, but it did not matter as both qualified for the knockout stages of the competition.
