A goalless draw between Cape Verde and Zambia in a Group B match at the Estadio De Ebebiyín on Monday night saw both countries crash out of the 2015 African Cup of Nations.

The draw sees Cape Verde finish third in the group on three points, but with an inferior goal difference to DR Congo who also finished on three points following their 1-1 draw against Tunisia in the other Group B game on the night.

It was a slow start to the match with very few chances in front of goal as both teams squandered possession with poor decision making in the final third.

The first real effort on goal came in the 16th minute when Zambia's Given Singuluma let fly from just outside the box, but the keeper Cape Verde keeper produced a good save to deny him.

Zambia were on the attack eight minutes later when Rainford Kalaba worked himself into space 16-yards out, but he dragged his shot inches wide of the Cape Verde goal.

The next attempt on goal only came in the 42nd minute when 24-yard free-kick from Rainford Kalaba was tipped over the post from keeper Josimar Dias.

Cape Verde created their first real chance in front of goal a minute later when Toni Varela met a right-sided free-kick into the box, but he headed inches over from ten-yards out.

Cape Verde also had the last say of the half when Garry Rodrigues fired a low 20-yard free-kick narrowly wide of the target.

The half ended 0-0.

Cape Verde had first decent chance of the second half in the 63rd minute when substitute Jorge Semedo left fly with a powerful 30-yard shot, but Kennedy Mweene produced an acrobatic save to turn his effort around the post.

Neither side could find a winner as both teams threw men forward in attack and consequently the game ended without a goal as Cape Verde and Zambia head home.
