The Algerian scored a free-kick from 14 yards out after being fouled just outside the penalty box in the 14th minute.
He whipped the ball over the wall and under the crossbar to score his fifth Champions League goal of the season.
Brahimi turned to creator when he set up Porto's second goal just after half-time, after breaking with a strong run into the penalty area before cutting back for Hector Herrera.
Basel, who advanced at the expense of Liverpool, had nothing in response to Brahimi and co.
Real Madrid loanee Casimero added Porto's third with another superb free-kick before Cameroon striker Vincent Aboubakar rounded off the 4-0 victory.

The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to Manchester City, but reportedly has a buyout clause worth £40 million.
