The voting for this year's UEFA Champions League Team of the Year opens on Monday – here is a line-up of players who were voted into the most previous editions, with Cristiano Ronaldo as the record nominee, therefore making up the UCL Ultimate Team of the Year.

European football's governing body has been releasing its annual Team of the Year since 2001. As a result, there are a host of superstars who have made the annual selection on multiple occasions.
According to uefa.com, Ronaldo is the record nominee with 13 nominations since 2001, and has made the Team of the Year a record-breaking 10 times – three times more than his closest rival.
His selection in 2015 marked his ninth appearance in a row, while Lionel Messi has been included in the team on seven occasions.
Real Madrid and FC Barcelona legends Iker Casillas and Carles Puyol, respectively, also feature in the Ultimate Team of the Year, with both having appeared in six annual selections.
Philipp Lahm, Sergio Ramos, Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta and Thierry Henry have all appeared in five Teams of the Year so far, while Gerard Pique was selected for a fourth time in his career in 2015.
Steven Gerrard is likely to drop out of the Ultimate UCL Team of the Year soon, having made the selection three times.

In theory, Casillas, Lahm, Ramos, Pique, Iniesta, Messi and Ronaldo could again appear in the 2016 Team of the Year, strengthening their positions in the Ultimate XI, while Puyol and Henry have retired already, and Gerrard and Xavi did not play their football in Eurrope this season, and therefore will not be able to add to their tallies.
