Date: 04 November 2020
Venue: Basaksehir Fatih Terim Stadium
Manchester United suffered their first defeat of the UEFA Champions League group stages after falling to a shock 2-1 loss to Istanbul Basaksehir.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer rang the changes after the loss to Arsenal Dean Henderson came in for David de Gea while Donny van de Beek, Anthony Martial and Axel Tuanzebe were also recalled.
United did not get off to the perfect start as the hosts took the lead on 12 minutes through Demba Ba, who profited on some poor defending to fire past Henderson.
The visitors, meanwhile, were unable to carve out any chances of their own as the first half went on, with Marcus Rashford and Martial cutting frustrated figures.
Baseksahir managed to double their advantage five minutes before the halftime break through Visca's strike, as the United defence continued to look shaky.
However, the Red Devils did reduce the deficit three minutes later as Martial got his first goal of the tournament by nodding home Luke Shaw's cross.
Tuanzebe made way for Scott McTominay at the start of the second half as United looked to get themselves back in the contest.
The initial change showed no signs of improving the side as Paul Pogba and Edinson Cavani were introduced for the final 30 minutes, with the Premier League giants looking to maintain their winning start.
The Red Devils threw everything forward in search of an equaliser in the second half, but the Turkish outfit showed no signs after buckling under the pressure.
The hosts ensured they walked away with a victory after Harry Maguire saw his header cleared off the line, as the Red Devils suffer their first defeat of the campaign.
