Date: 16 February 2021
Venue: Camp Nou
Kylian Mbappe bagged himself a hat-trick at the Camp Nou as Paris Saint-Germain thrashed FC Barcelona 4-1 in the first leg of their round of 16 tie.
Gerard Pique made a surprise return to the Catalans' line-up, as Pedri joined Frenkie de Jong and Sergio Busquets in midfield after starring over the weekend.
PSG, who were without Neymar, enjoyed most of the ball in the early stages, but it was Barca who carved out the first chance when Pedri played in Antoine Griezmann who was unable to beat Keylor Navas from close range.
Barcelona were then awarded a penalty on 27 minutes when Frenkie de Jong went down by after colliding with Layvin Kurzawa, which allowed Lionel Messi to blast the home the opening goal from 12 yards.
PSG were back on level terms seven minutes later as Marco Verratti deflected Kurzawa's pass to Mbappe who skipped past Clement Lenglet to fire past Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
The second half saw the Catalan giants dominate as they went in search of a second goal, but it was PSG who got the next goal on 66 minutes when Alessandro Florenzi's cross found its way to Mbappe who fired into an empty net.
PSG got the two-goal advantage three minutes later as an un-marked Moise Kean got on the end of Leandro Paredes' free-kick to head home at the far post.
However, the night belonged to Mbappe who completed his hat-trick on 85 minutes with a clinical finish into the top corner after being played in by Julian Draxler to wrap up a big win.
