UEFA Champions League

Result: FC Barcelona 3-0 Manchester United (4-0 on aggregate)

Date: 16 April 2019

Venue: Camp Nou

Marcus Rashford was joined in the attack by Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard, as Romelu Lukaku and Diogo Dalot dropped to the bench.

The Red Devils got off to a surprisingly good start as Rashford rattled the crossbar inside the opening minute after being played in by Paul Pogba.

Eleven minutes in, the referee awarded the home side a penalty after Fred appeared to have brought down Ivan Rakitic. However, after checking with the Video Assistant Referee (VAR), the referee opted to reverse his decision.

The Catalan giants eventually went in front five minutes later as Messi did well to skip past Fred before curling the ball into the bottom corner.

It was 2-0 just before the 20-minute mark as Messi bagged his second with an effort from distance that David de Gea made a horrible mess of.

After a quiet spell in the half, the hosts nearly bagged a third goal just before the break but Sergi Roberto's effort was kept out by De Gea.

Barca continued to dominate upon resumption in the second half but they had to wait until the hour mark for the third goal as Philippe Coutinho curled home a fine strike into the top corner from 25-yards out.

Both coaches opted for a change for the final 20 minutes as Nelson Semedo replaced Sergio Roberto for the hosts while United threw on Lukaku for Rashford.

The final stages of the second half proved relatively easy for Ernesto Valverde's charges, who toyed with United on their way to a comfortable 3-0 victory.
