Result: AS Roma 3-0 FC Barcelona (4-4 on agg - Roma advance on away goals rule)

Date: 10 April 2018

Venue: Stadio Olimpico

FC Barcelona were dumped out of the UEFA Champions League after losing 3-0 to AS Roma in the second leg of their quarter-final in Rome.

Six minutes into the half, Roma took the lead as Daniele de Rossi played in Edin Dzeko, who fired past Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

The Italians continued to push for a second goal as the first half went on, with the likes of Dzeko and Schick squandering chances after 25 minutes.

Barca struggled to carve out openings and Roma went close again after 37 minutes through Florenzi, who rose above his marker before seeing his header tipped over the bar by Ter Stegen.

Lionel Messi then went close shortly before the break but sent a curling free-kick inches over the crossbar.

Roma started the second half in the same vein as the first, and they were awarded a penalty in the 58th minute, which De Rossi converted, 2-0.

The Italians managed to carve out another chance in the 69th minute but Ter Stegen was on hand to keep out Kevin Strootman's effort from distance.

Roma eventually bagged a third goal to make it 4-4 on aggregate in the 82nd minute as Kostas Manolas rose highest to head home Cengiz Under's corner.

The Catalan giants threw numbers forward in search of a goal that would send them through to the semi-finals, but Roma managed to hold out in the final stages to secure a famous win on away goals and their spot in the last four.
