Real Madrid secured passage to the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals with 3-1 win over Atalanta in the second-leg at Alfredo di Stefano Stadium.
Los Blancos, with a 1-0 lead from the first-leg, made two changes as Toni Kroos and Luka Modric returned to boost the side while Casemiro missed out due to suspension.
Vinicius Junior had a big chance to break the deadlock for Madrid in the 22nd minute after a return pass from Karim Benzema put him through on goal but his goal-bound strike was crucially blocked by Berat Djimsiti.
Benzema finally got the breakthrough for Zinedine Zidane's charges ten minutes before the break and doubled their lead on aggregate with a composed finish past goalkeeper Marco Sportiello, who was punished for his howler after striking a clearance straight at Modric, who setup the Frenchman for an easy finish.
Madrid were on the front foot early in the second stanza and Sergio Ramos made it 2-0 and 3-0 on aggregate on the hour-mark with a powerful strike from the penalty spot that Sportiello got a hand to but could not keep out after Rafel Toloi brought down Vinicius Junior inside the box.
Luis Muriel pulled a goal back for Atalanta in the last seven minutes with a stunning strike from a free-kick, making 2-1 on the night and 3-1 on aggregate.
But it was too little too late, as Marco Asensio restored a two-goal cushion for Los Blancos a minute later with a thumping low strike after he was teed up by Lucas Vazquez inside the box, as the Spanish giants booked their spot in the quarter-finals.
Manchester City cruised to the quarter-finals after 2-0 win in the second-leg of the last 16 tie at Puskas Arena.
City made five changes from the win over Fulham, as IIkay Gundogan, Kyle Walker, Riyad Mahrez, Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden were all recalled.
De Bruyne gave the Citizens the lead in the 13th minute and made it 3-0 on aggregate with a first-time left-footed strike from the edge of the box towards the top corner after he teed up by Mahrez.
Gundogan doubled the lead for Pep Guardiola's charges five minutes later with a low strike past goalkeeper Yann Sommer after a through ball by Foden as City went to the break with a commanding 4-0 lead on aggregate.
City took their foot off the gas somewhat in the second stanza, especially in the last third and Guardiola only introduced Raheem Sterling in the last 20 minutes while Sergio Aguero was given the last quarter of an hour as they cruised to the quarter-finals.
